Dental Insurance – Grove City, OH

How to Make the Most
of Your Dental Insurance

On the surface, dental insurance sounds simple enough, but it can quickly become complicated when it’s actually time to use it to help pay for your care. We try to keep things nice and simple here at Park Street Dental of Grove City, which is why we accept any and all PPO dental insurance plans. There are a few key things every policyholder should know to maximize their plan, and you can learn about them below in our short guide.

How Dental Insurance Works

Each dental insurance plan offers unique coverage, but the majority tend to follow the “100-80-50” rule, which looks something like this:

  • Preventive services are covered 100% (checkups, cleanings, X-rays)
  • Basic restorative services are covered 80% (fillings, bonding)
  • Advanced restorative services are covered 50% (crowns, dentures, extractions)

Because cosmetic services are elective procedures, they are typically not covered by insurance. However, if a cosmetic treatment is being used to repair dental damage, some plans may pay for part of it. Depending on your policy, Invisalign may or may not be covered, but our team will closely check to

What is the Difference Between Dental & Medical Insurance?

Prevention. This is the primary goal of most dental insurance plans. The coverage is structured in a way that makes it easy for patients to afford basic services like checkups and cleanings. This means that any minor problems are found and addressed early, and many are stopped before they ever begin. This not only leads to better oral health, but less spent on care overall, plus it lowers the risk of a patient needing more expensive procedures over time. Let’s just say this approach is vastly different from medical insurance!

In-Network VS. Out-of-Network

With insurance, you are going to encounter some jargon that may be unfamiliar to you. Being “in-network” means that we have agreed to accept discounted rates for certain services, and those savings are passed on to you! However, even if we are “out-of-network,” we are happy to file claims on your behalf and help you maximize your benefits.

In-Network Coverage

Our dental office is currently in-network with Delta Dental, Aetna, Guardian, and CIGNA, which means if you have dental insurance through these providers, then we can offer you the highest level of savings possible. Plus, we’ll be able to file your claim very quickly because we have worked with them for a while now.

Out of Network

Or, if you get your dental insurance from a provider not on our list, don’t worry, because we’ll gladly accept it as well. We welcome out-of-network providers and can help you save as much as possible when you come to see us.
